The National Highway Authority of India is an independent department of the Indian government. In 1988, NHAI was founded. Out of the 1,15,000 km of National Highways in India, it oversees managing a network covering more than 50,000 km. Since March 2019, Nagendra Nath Sinha has served as the NHAI’s chairman. The National Roadways Authority of India is responsible for managing, maintaining, and developing all national and other highways that have been given to it by the Indian government. It oversees the creation, administration, and upkeep of National Highways, as well as the toll collection on several of them.
