UPSC IAS Eligibility 2024 – Educational Qualification
- A candidate must have a Bachelor Degree from any recognized university.
- Final year graduation candidates can appear for the Prelims, but they must provide passing results before Mains Exam.
- Candidates with technical and professional qualifications acknowledged by the government as equivalent to a technical and professional degree are also eligible for taking the UPSC CSE examination.
- Medical students in their last of MBBS who are yet to complete their internship are also eligible for IAS exam. However, a certification of course completion (including internship) from the University’s authorities must be provided while submitting the Mains Examination application.
Nationality:
For the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.
For other service, a candidate must be either:-
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal, or
- A subject of Bhutan, or
- Tibetan refugees before January 1, 1962 with the intent of permanent residence or
- A person of Indian ancestry returning from specified countries from permanent residence
Age Limit:
- For General category there is 21 to 32 years age consumption on August 1st of the exam year.
- For qualify the UPSC Exam the candidates should birth between August 2, 1992 and August 1, 2003.
- There is some Age relaxation for reserved categories.
